I just got an email from the Smithsonian African American Museum in Washington DC that passes and no longer needed during “off season” – September to May (I think). I am putting together the trip for September, 2019. This truly gets me over the hurdle of assuring entry to the museum, WHEW!!!. Now all I need to do is find a hotel close. So far it looks like the Marriott has my attention. It’s only.4 miles from the museum – an easy walk. BUT, on the other hand , ya gotta walk to the museum then walk 5 stories of artifacts. mmmmmmm Anyway, the cost will tell the tale.
Then there is New York. So, the week I wanted to go turns out to be Fashion Week. WOW! I think that would be exciting. I have 2 clients who are in the fashion design industry and that would fit into there desires. I was told by a rep in a NYC tour company that during fashion week there could be runways anywhere and everywhere – for free – Central Park, Times square etc. I think that could be exciting, a some what, free excursion. “Some what” because we pay a heck of a lot more in hotel fees. So, maybe that’s not the week to go. mmmmmmmmm There are so many things to consider. One client was so dismayed about the hotel rates that she is willing to stay in her timeshare in DC and commute to NYC. Oh well, each to their own. I’m not going to be inconvenienced to that degree. It’s 2 hours one way. Ok, so, I’m looking at a different week,
I just believe if I only have a short time to be in New York, I’m not wanting to stay in Brooklyn, Queens or some other borough and have to commute into the “city.” I want to be right where Sex in the City was! Times Square! The Ed Sullivan Theater so, I will be close to the Steven Colbert show! All the pictures I see of the excitement of New York City! All the things I think NYC is about, I want to be there for my 4 meger days. I have Hilton Honor points. And some of the Hiltons take points and money. The points range from 70,ooo – 80,ooo a nights so, cash and points could work. However, everybody doesn’t have Hilton Honors points. Everybody doesn’t stay at Hiltons. I saw Ameritania Hotel in the mist of where I want to be and it’ $261 a night. Good reviews. At 4 nights, that’s still $522 per person. I just don’t want to spend that kind of money when I have points I can use. DAMN!!! New York is SSSOOO expensive. I can cut my cost by using points mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
