The Casino Cruise

WHEW!!! It is done. There were 31 people for this cruise to Nassau, the Atlantis Paradise Casino. It was definitely hard work getting people to comply with the time restraints, making the payments and catching the ones that bounced, finding roommates for people whose roommate cancelled, making special arrangements for babies and people with medical needs.  AND, people were still calling me 2 days before I left to meet them about their issues – can insurance still be gotten? Where is the hotel? Can’t get a passport – what can I do? How do we get to the ship? All of this had been emailed to them several times. PEOPLE DO NOT READ!!

All went off without a hitch! Everyone had a GREAT time. A few of us spent a couple days in Miami before the cruise. That was nice. Miami is a destination. I love Miami. I wanted to show people “my” Miami. However, when most of the people got there – they were off on their own. I had hoped we could have had a short group meeting so everyone would know who is in the group or at least have our first dinner aboard the ship together. That’s important, especially when going out of the country. If you should get separated from your travel bud you may recognize someone else from the group. Anyway, no one got lost and all was fine. We did all have our last meal together, though. We were on the Carnival Victory ship for 3 days. It’s a party ship and there were lots of people and lots of entertainment – swimming pools, spas, shows, games, bars, night clubs, day clubs for children of all ages, plenty of food and people watching! Carnival still has 24 hours room service with no charge.

I got a chance to visit with my son, his girlfriend and my 15 month old grandson.  WHAT FUN!!! My son and his girlfriend were able to relax while my husband and I took the baby. We had a ball. He was just getting the hang of walking. My husband bought the baby some real walking shoes then walked him ALL over the port of Miami. He loved it – both of them.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. It is directly across the street from Bayside Market – an outdoor shopping mall. The hotel was nice and convenient. They have their own restaurant. Most people did not eat there because there were better choices at Bayside. There was a hotel swimming pool, too. That was perfect because it was  h o t  in Miami. It’s about time! Everywhere I have traveled to in the past 18 months where it was suppose to be hot – wasn’t! Miami made up for it this time. Thank you. Miami. The hotel rooms did not have micro waves nor refrigerators but, they accommodated us with a refrigerator for the baby. That was nice. Their bathrooms had a strange configuration. The toilet was all the way up against a wall opposite the bathtub, one electrical socket on the same wall the toilet abutted and the sink next to the bathtub with little to no shelf space and NO towel racks. The toilet was so close to the door that you had to come all the way into the bathroom before you could shut the door. Strange. For the convenience of the hotel to the ship and the mall, I would stay there with a group again.

People have called me to comment on their good time and talk about planning another trip. That’s always good. I look forward to to it.

MarshAgogo – gone.
